Remote Media Center Once worked Now ????

Postby Capple123 » Sun Nov 06, 2011 3:48 pm

It has been some time since I used RMC on my T-Mobile Optimus LG-P509 phone. Months ago when I first attempted to use this app it took me a few weeks to get things working. My best results where to use the VPlayer and when the trial expired simply install and re-install. I suppose if I had unlimited Data on my phone I would have purchased it and been done. I thought that I did get the Mobo Player to work after struggling too. I now have a fresh install of Windows 7 and am attempting to get this app to work again. A big hurtle I have now is that it appears that my phone is no longer compatible with VPlayer. What happened there? This is not the responsibility of the creator of RMC but though some of you could shed some light on this.

What I have done to date to try and get things working
My computer is not using Windows fire wall but a third party package(F-Secure). Disabled it. No luck on phone using Mobo or other players
Video does play to other PC on my network using both the Http://Local PC IP:9080 and Http://Dyndns:9080
Vplayer will no longer install to my phone
RMC will stream Music to phone
I can browse Photos on RMC

Any insight you can share would be welcomed.

If this once worked, it should still work. turn off your Windows Firewall and see if it makes a difference. If anything, you should be able to type 127.0.0.1:9080 in your W7/RP Machine's browser and get connected locally.

make sure you are also port forwarding the range of 9081-9083. I beleive that is is a new change.

also, some of us are having issue with newest version of moboplayer, try a different 3rd party player like vPlayer, Daroon Player or MX Player.

Windows Fire wall is disabled.
Getting connected via a PC browser is working. Not My Android phone.
I have Port Forwarding enabled for the 9081-9083 range.
Moboplayer was the player I used to use. vPlayer will not install on my phone (I did once but for some reason my phone is no longer compatible)
I'll try some of these other players you listed.

Daroon Player worked Thanks. Any real differences to be aware of between these players?

You don't have to forward these ports in order for RMC to work.
It is great when you use Remote Media Center for android, see frequently asked questions, any donations would be appreciated.

Good to know. That eliminates one layer.
