Local Connectivity Issues...

Postby shadowfixer » Thu Sep 15, 2011 1:57 pm

Hi all.
Apologies if this has been asked before – I did a search and couldn’t find a solution.
I am a new RP user (this is my 1st install), so sorry if it’s a dumb question!
I have installed RP Server onto my Windows Home Server 2011 server, and am unable to connect either locally or over the web (a good sign though is that I get the same error – so it must mean port forwarding is working!)
I get a server runtime error which I have paste below…

Server Error in '/' Application.
________________________________________
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi.
Did you change the default ports during the installation?
If so, to what?

Hi Thanks for the reply.

I didn't change the default ports - they are still
9080 - RP
9081-9083 - RP Streaming.

Thx

Strange.
You are remembering both html:// and :9080 ?
On the homeserver you should be able to use this link:
Http://localhost:9080

Hi Andreaseide;
Thanks again for your reply.
I have found the solution – just hadn’t got a chance to post it before your second reply – although your solution was about right.

The issue was that I had put an extra “/” between the end of the URL and the port number - so that it read something like 192.168.0.20/:9080 and not xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:9080

I must have had a different issue with the web page – and then when I incorrectly entered the slash and got the error – it sent me down the wrong path!

Thanks again for your help. Now to get Android access sorted!
